* Criteria for having a Lady Husky Jersey # retired & having a permanent banner on the outfield wall is by obtaining on one or more of the following four special achievements: Gatorade Arizona Player of the year, Played on a D1 NCAA Championship Team being honored as HHS Female Athlete of the Year or being enshrined in the HHS Hall of Fame.

*Jackie Amara – Is a member of the HHS Hall of Fame and was 1986 1st Team Softball Skyline All Region Outfielder, All-Arizona Outfielder & 1986 Horizon High School Athlete of the Year.
*Kim Rondina – Is a member of the HHS Hall of Fame and was Varsity MVP 1992 & 1993 and was 1st Team All-State. Set 8 HHS Softball Records at the time and was the AIA Scholar Athlete of the year. 1993 Horizon High School Female Athlete of the Year.
*#20 Becky Lemke– Becky played on the 1997 State Championship HHS team and also won the * Arizona Player of the Year award in 1997. Becky was also on the 2001 NCAA Women’s College World Series Championship Team playing for the University of Arizona Wildcats.
Jennifer Langenhuizen – Is a member of the HHS Hall of Fame and played on the 1997 State Championship HHS team and was the Arizona High School Female Athlete of the Year 1997. All Region & Scottsdale 1st team 1996-97, Holds HHS & Arizona Career Stolen Base Record.
Christa Pfeninger – Played on the 1997 State Championship HHS team and was also team MVP in 1997. Christa was named the NFCA Diamond Sport National High School Catcher of the Year.
*#13 Caitlin Benyi – Is a member of the * HHS Hall of Fame and was named first-team All-State by the Arizona Republic as a senior. Also earned first-team All-Scottsdale, and was named the Northeast Valley & Scottsdale Tribune Player of the Year along with being named Horizon High School Senior Athlete of the Year. Caitlin was on the 2003 & 04 NCAA Women’s College World Series Championship Teams starting for the UCLA Bruins.
*#44 Emily Zaplatosch – Is a member of the * HHS Hall of Fame and was Three-time All-State, All-Region and All-City selection in softball, also named an ARCO Best of the West Athlete of the Month recipient by Student Sports along with being named 2000 Scottsdale Tribune Softball Player of the Year. Emily was on the 2003 & 04 NCAA Women’s College World Series Championship Teams starting for the UCLA Bruins.
Jaci Hull – Named all-state all four years (twice to the first team and twice to the second team), first-team all-region all four years and the N.E. Valley Player of the Year 2004 & 2005.
Ashley Smuda – Horizon High School team MVP 2005 & 2006. Selected to all-star, all-state, all-Arizona and all-region teams senior year along with being selected Scottsdale Tribune Player of the Year in 2006.
*#17 Katelyn Boyd –* Horizon High School Senior Female Athlete of the Year in 2008. Numerous HHS Hitting Records and was a member of the National Women’s Honor Society. Katelyn was on the 2011 NCAA Women’s College World Series Championship Team starting for the ASU Sun Devils.
Leah White – Horizon High School team MVP in 2010 & 2011. Numerous HHS Hitting Records. Leah was 2011 Desert Valley Player of the Year, all-region, Scottsdale Republic Player of the Year and 2011 ESPN National First Team All-American. Team Israel Softball 2020
*#88 T Statman – Horizon High Schools only 4-time Husky Award winner 2012,13,14 & 15. * HHS Female Athlete of the Year in 2015 & Senior Person of Character. Numerous HHS Hitting Records & Pitching Records. T was 2015 AiA D1 Sec. III Player of the Year, 2015 All District MVP, 1st team All-State 2013, 14, 15, 2015 DI & II Arizona All-Academic Softball 1st Team, MaxPreps National Underclass & All-American 2012, 13, 14 & 15, 2015 ALL-USA 2nd Team, 3TV Female Athlete of the Year & AZ Republic All-PHX MVP 2013, AZ Gatorade POY Finalist in 2014 & 15. T was the 1st player in Arizona AiA history to amass 1,000 K’s from 43FT. AiA365 Sports 98.7FM “T” HHS recap Team Israel Softball 2020

Honored HHS Lady Husky Coaches
Ken Goldwine guided the Horizon Huskies to the state tournament in eight of his nine seasons at the school, with the Huskies winning the Desert Valley Region title five times and won the 5A state title at Phoenix Horizon in 1997. Horizon went 24-9-1 and defeated Oro Valley Canyon del Oro for the title, 7-0. Ken Goldwine was the region coach of the year four times and the National Federation Coach of the Year in 1999. Twenty-one Horizon graduates have gone on to earn college scholarships and play at the collegiate level during the Ken Goldwine era.
