High school softball 2014 All-Arizona team Announced

We would like to congratulate Horizon’s own T Statman for making the 2014 All-Arizona team for the 2nd consecutive year.

The American Family Insurance All-USA Arizona softball team, as selected by azcentral sports.

P, Breanna Macha, Sr., Mesa Red Mountain

Comment: Big Schools POY, won her fourth state championship in the circle, posting a 1.02 ERA and 263 strikeouts in 192 innings. She moves on to Arizona State.

P, Tamara Statman, Jr., Phoenix Horizon

Comment: Two-time All-Arizona. Struck out 289 batters in 195 2/3 innings, and added a .515 average at the plate for good measure. Committed to Arizona.

P, Dallas McBride, Sr., Scottsdale Chaparral

Comment: Two-time All-Arizona. Another dual threat, with a 1.66 ERA and 203 strikeouts in the circle, and a .402 average and nine home runs at the plate.

C, Corrin Green, Sr., Glendale Mountain Ridge

Comment: Two-time All-Arizona. Lone senior on the roster led Mountain Ridge to the Division I title game, hitting .590 with 13 home runs and 40 RBIs. Committed to New Mexico State.

IF, Dani Nelson, Sr., Gilbert

Comment: Incredible athlete with great work ethic. Hit .410 with an .868 slugging percentage and played terrirfic defense at short. Will join her best friend Macha at Arizona State.

IF, Alyssa DiCarlo, Jr., Glendale Mountain Ridge

Comment: Two-time All-Arizona. Consistent and powerful at the plate, hit .583 and led the state in home runs with 17. Committed to Georgia.

IF, Bianca Boling, Sr., Phoenix North Canyon

Comment: Excellent power, with 10 home runs and a 1.250 slugging percentage to go along with a .550 average. Headed to Grand Canyon.

IF, Shea Smith, Jr., Buckeye Verrado

Comment: Along with twin sister Sierra, the driving force behind Verrado’s offense. Posted a .540 average and scored 54 runs. Also a superb shortstop. Committed to Grand Canyon.

OF, Rebecca Ziegler, Sr., Oro Valley Canyon del Oro

Comment: Extremely versatile and fun to watch — can beat defenses with her speed or her power. Hit .545 with eight home runs. Signed with Penn State.

OF, Alex Wiley, Jr., Mesa Red Mountain

Comment: Consistent run producer hit .414 and drove in 37 runs. Could be Red Mountain’s next two-way star as she takes over for Macha in the circle next season.

OF, Justyce McClain, Jr., Phoenix Sandra Day O’Connor

Comment: Triple threat who can bunt, slap or swing away. Set a school record with 18 stolen bases and hit .568. Also stellar in center field.

DH, Rose Jaramillo, So., Glendale Raymond S. Kellis

Comment: Dedicated worker who should keep getting better. Led the team with a .534 average, 11 home runs and 43 RBIs.

UT, Mara Kemmer, So., Chandler Valley Christian

Comment: Small Schools POY. Insane stats for any player, let alone a sophomore: .646 average with 33 steals and 54 runs scored, along with a 0.90 ERA and 281 strikeouts in 125 innings.


The American Family Insurance All-USA Arizona and All-State baseball and softball teams were selected by the azcentral sports high school staff. The All-Arizona teams represents the best players regardless of division, while the All-State teams represent the best players in each division. The staff consulted coaches and used statistics and observations in making their selections.
